2003 - 2010
This original one-woman show toured the State of Wisconsin for seven years and was underwritten and produced by the Wisconsin Humanities Council's Speakers Bureau. It presented current theories and debates regarding the cultural constructions of gender roles in our society. It did so by engaging the audience in forum theatre practices and also dramatization of folk tales, legends, songs, and oral histories. This performance used the craft of spinning and weaving as a case study in "women's work." Demonstrations and dramatizations also connected audiences to the experience of what it took to produce a garment from sheep to shawl.
